Thank you for booking a call and completing the Application Form!

We are so excited for you and look forward to speaking with you.

We will soon email you an Assessment Writing Assignment based on your child’s level.

Please check your spam folder if you don’t see it in 24 hours.

IMPORTANT: Please ask your child to complete the assessment before our call.

One reason why our program creates great success is because we are very specific in ensuring that we can help students based on their individual academic needs.

This differs from generic writing classes that cater to the greater public.

Even though school grades give us a good sense of the general level of the student, they are usually not very precise.

This is why…

We’ve seen it in many of our students:

There can be two students both in 10th grade and both getting, say, 89% at school.

But one teacher can be a strict marker and another a very lenient marker. Therefore, the two students are actually not on the same level, despite being in the same grade and receiving the same mark.

Or, we can have three students on the same level, but they’re getting 87% because each encounters different issues:

…one has great ideas but makes a lot of grammatical mistakes

…whereas the other student has trouble generating great, in-depth ideas and analysis

…while the third has decent ideas and doesn’t make too many serious grammatical mistakes, but presents ideas in a chaotic manner that weakens the logical flow and structure

Therefore, our writing assessment is the best way for us to gain a more real understanding of where the student is.

The students are welcome to also email in recent writing assignments done at school (this is not required).

If your child would like to share school assignments with us, Please send us academic writing (especially literary analysis) instead of creative writing. Even though creative writing is fun and beautiful, it does not give us a strong understanding of the student’s ability in formal writing and critical analysis skills.

We find school assignments helpful, but since school essays are often written after class discussions, it doesn’t give us the most realistic understanding of the student’s independent analytical ability.

This may require a little work from the student (the assessment takes around 20 minutes to complete), but it gives us a much deeper understanding of the student’s academic needs and it enables us to give you a lot more value during our meeting.

Many students have told us that they found our feedback during the Zoom call alone very helpful and enlightening. Many parents tell us they learned a lot just from these calls.

Since the Assessment Assignment is “extra homework” for your teenager, we would really appreciate it if you can give them a little support to encourage them to complete it. :)

We cannot wait to meet you and your child! Please do not hesitate to reach out to us before our call if you have questions about our call.

Rooting for your child’s success,

Rene and the Top Student Academy Team

What People Are Saying About Top Student Academy

Our Founder

Top Student Academy’s founder and TEDx speaker, Rene Wang, has been involved in defying the conventional way of learning and exploring out-of-box teaching methods since toddlerhood. She’s a big picture Systems Thinker who has been using and studying super-learning skills most of her life. She gave a TEDx talk on how students can use super-learning skills and mindset training to transform their learning journey and maximize their results.

Rene grew up with educator parents. Her father was a Fulbright scholar and an English Literature professor who authored 7 books. Her mother was an award-winning journalist with 16 published books under her belt. They started teaching her to read at 2 and half through creative, fun games they invented. By 4, she was reciting poetry and reading voraciously. She thus understands the power of using intellectual challenges to stimulate and shape cognitive development in a person’s formative stage. This became the defining belief she infused into the inventive curriculum system she later designed for Top Student Academy to facilitate similar cognitive growth impact in students like your child.

Driven to inspire and elevate young people’s performance and consciousness, she founded Top Student Academy, a world-class institution that specializes in higher level critical thinking, rhetoric, and academic essay writing training. For almost two decades, our academy has helped countless high-potential high school students like your child.

You’re invited to head to our testimonial page and watch our previous students and parents share their success stories. They discuss both immediate benefits (grades improvement) and long-term benefits that impact their lifelong success. Hope they serve as inspiration to you and your child, showing them what’s possible for them too!
